Think Like a Criminal

Monitoring your devices, be it the networks of your computer or cell phone and evaluating potential threats, is of high importance.  

Having your mobile device hacked almost feels as if someone has robbed you of your most precious item, that is why you should always secure it. Your phone does not just hold your valuables, it signals to intruders which of your valuables are the most important to you. The  information on your phone is of importance to you because it is always with you. Hacking then is invasion of privacy and is a gross violation of your personal space and it is highly likely that you may take time to figure out what is missing. 

Hackers have a variety of attack methods. Their attacks rarely look the same and one has to know these to be safe and not risk your information being stolen. As people increasingly store sensitive data on their mobile devices, the opportunity to exploit privacy weaknesses becomes more tempting to enemies or even strangers who have their agendas.  

There are many ways one can protect themselves against hacking, most of which only requires common sense.  To keep your phone and all the information that it has safe and secure, you should develop a strategy for protecting your personal information. Some tips to protect your phone from hackers and intruders include avoiding public Wi-Fi, back up, use strong passwords, use an antivirus app and most importable be aware of spam and phishing emails.  

No one is immune to attacks, whether you are a student or not, always be ready to fight threats.
